Bourbon Maple Bacon Toast (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main ingredients

01 - 8 thick slices brioche or challah bread
02 - 6 strips thick-cut bacon
03 - 4 large eggs
04 - 120 ml whole milk
05 - 15 ml vanilla extract
06 - 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
07 - 28 g unsalted butter

→ Filling and glaze

08 - 56 g cream cheese, softened
09 - 240 ml pure maple syrup
10 - 30 ml bourbon
11 - 5 ml vanilla extract
12 - Pinch of salt

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange bacon on a wire rack and bake for 15 minutes until crispy. Drain excess fat and chop finely.
02 - In a shallow bowl, whisk eggs, whole milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until combined.
03 - Combine softened cream cheese with chopped bacon until evenly blended.
04 - Cut a pocket into each slice of bread and fill with the bacon and cream cheese mixture.
05 - Submerge each stuffed bread slice into the egg mixture, coating both sides thoroughly.
06 - Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook stuffed bread for 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
07 - Combine maple syrup, bourbon, vanilla extract, and salt in a saucepan. Warm over low heat for 2 minutes without boiling.
08 - Plate the French toast immediately and drizzle with the warm bourbon maple glaze before serving.

# Notes:

01 - Use thick-cut bread for optimal stuffing; chilling the filled bread briefly can help maintain the filling during cooking.
