Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Spray a 9-inch pie plate with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.

Melt the butter in a large, microwave-safe bowl. Mix in the sugars, then the vanilla extract. Stir in the egg until well combined.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.

Fold in the chocolate chips and ½ cup of the chocolate candies. Reserve the remaining candies for garnish.

Scrape the dough into the prepared pie plate, smoothing the top with an offset spatula. Bake for 25 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

Remove the cookie cake from the oven and gently press the remaining candies onto the surface while it's still hot. Allow the cookie cake to cool before slicing and serving.
