Hobo Casserole Ground Beef (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Components

01 - 450 g ground beef
02 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
03 - 1 medium onion, chopped
04 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
05 - 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
06 - 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese
07 - 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
08 - 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
09 - 0.5 teaspoon paprika
10 - Salt and black pepper, to taste
11 - 120 ml beef broth or water
12 - 60 ml milk (optional, for extra creaminess)
13 - Fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional, for garnish)

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 190°C. Grease a 23x33 cm baking dish with cooking spray or a light coating of olive oil.
02 - Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking up with a spoon, until evenly browned and cooked through, approximately 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
03 - Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook, stirring frequently, for 3-4 minutes or until onions soften and turn translucent.
04 - Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Arrange thin potato slices over the beef in an even layer. Season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
05 - Sprinkle shredded cheddar and grated Parmesan cheese over the potatoes. Pour beef broth or water around the sides, and optionally drizzle milk for a creamier texture.
06 - Cover the dish with aluminium foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
07 - Remove the foil and continue baking for 15-20 minutes until potatoes are fork-tender and the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden.
08 - Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired and serve immediately while hot.

# Notes:

01 - For a leaner dish, ensure the ground beef is well browned and thoroughly drained of excess fat.
