# Ingredients:

01 - 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
02 - 1 cup granulated sugar
03 - 2 large eggs
04 - 1/3 cup lemon juice
05 - 1 teaspoon lemon zest
06 - 1 box (15.25 oz) lemon cake mix
07 - 1 cup water
08 - 1/3 cup vegetable oil
09 - Whipped cream or frosting for serving (optional)
10 - Fresh fruit for garnish (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
02 - In a mixing bowl, blend the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.
03 - Beat in the eggs one at a time, incorporating well after each addition.
04 - Stir in the lemon juice and lemon zest until well combined.
05 - In another bowl, combine the lemon cake mix, water, and vegetable oil. Mix until there are no lumps.
06 - Pour the cake batter over the cream cheese mixture in the baking dish. Do not mix; allow the layers to form naturally.
