Penne Pasta with Peas (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
02 - ½ yellow onion, diced very small
03 - 1 cup frozen peas
04 - 6 slices thick bacon, cut into small pieces
05 - ¾ pound penne pasta
06 - ¼ cup heavy cream

# Instructions:

01 - Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and add the penne pasta. Halfway through the cooking process, add the frozen peas to the water. Follow the package instructions for cooking time, reducing it by 1 minute to ensure the penne pasta will be al dente.
02 - In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the finely diced onions and bacon, and cook until they are crisp but not burned.
03 - Drain the pasta and peas, then add them to the skillet with the onion and bacon mixture. Lower the heat to medium, add the heavy cream, and stir well. Add more cream if needed and serve immediately.

# Notes:

01 - Serve the dish piping hot. The longer it sits, the softer the pasta gets as it continues cooking. Let your guests add their preferred amount of cheese. The Italian saying, 'Pasta does not wait for you. You wait for it,' perfectly applies here.
