South Carolina Bird Dog Sandwich (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Protein

01 - 4 chicken tenders (grilled, fried, or baked)

→ Bread

02 - 4 hoagie rolls or soft sandwich buns

→ Sauces and Condiments

03 - 1/2 cup South Carolina mustard-based BBQ sauce
04 - 1/4 cup mayonnaise
05 - 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
06 - 1 tablespoon honey

→ Vegetables and Pickles

07 - 1/4 cup chopped pickles (bread and butter or dill)
08 - 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
09 - 1/2 cup shredded lettuce or coleslaw

→ Seasonings

10 - Salt and pepper, to taste
11 - Hot sauce (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Season chicken tenders with salt and pepper. Grill, bake, or fry until golden and cooked through, approximately 5 to 7 minutes per side. Set aside.
02 - Combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, honey, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Stir until smooth and well blended.
03 - Lightly toast hoagie rolls or buns in a skillet or oven for 2 to 3 minutes until edges turn crispy.
04 - Spread the honey mustard sauce evenly on the bottom half of each roll. Place a cooked chicken tender on top and drizzle with South Carolina mustard BBQ sauce.
05 - Layer shredded lettuce or coleslaw, sliced red onions, and chopped pickles over the chicken. Add hot sauce if desired. Cover with the top half of the roll and serve immediately while warm.
