3-Ingredient Lemon Bars (Print Version)

Bright lemon bars made from cake mix, pie filling, and butter. Simple steps, vibrant flavor.

# Ingredients:

Base

01 - 1 box (15.25 oz / 432 g) lemon cake mix
02 - 115 g unsalted butter, melted (½ cup / 1 stick)

Filling

03 - 1 can (21 oz / 595 g) lemon pie filling, not pudding

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch (23x33 cm) baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
02 - In a medium bowl, mix lemon cake mix and melted butter with a fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs that hold together when pressed but remain crumbly.
03 - Reserve 1 cup (about 120 g) of the crumb mixture for the topping. Press the remaining mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan using the bottom of a measuring cup.
04 - Spread lemon pie filling evenly over the pressed crust.
05 - Sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture uniformly over the lemon filling.
06 - Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the filling bubbles around the edges.
07 - Allow bars to cool in the pan on a wire rack until filling is set, ensuring clean slices.
08 - Cut into squares and serve. Optional: dust with powdered sugar.

# Notes:

01 - Cooling completely is critical to allow the filling to set for clean slices.
