Churro Stuffed French Toast (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Filling

01 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
02 - 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
03 - 4 oz cream cheese (let it get soft beforehand)

→ French Toast

04 - 2 tablespoons butter to fry
05 - Pinch of salt
06 - 2 tablespoons sugar (white, not brown)
07 - 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
08 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
09 - 1/2 cup milk
10 - 2 eggs, large
11 - 8 thick bread slices, like Texas toast or brioche

→ Cinnamon Sugar Coating

12 - 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
13 - 1/2 cup sugar (granulated)

# Instructions:

01 - Enjoy while it's warm. If you want, pile on some syrup, chocolate drizzle, or whipped cream.
02 - Once fried, toss each stuffed French toast right into the cinnamon sugar mix so they're covered all over.
03 - In a wide, shallow bowl, stir the cinnamon powder and sugar together. That's your topping.
04 - Drop some butter into a hot non-stick skillet on medium. Brown both sides of each sandwich till golden and crisp—should take 3 to 4 minutes per side.
05 - Dip every assembled sandwich in the eggy mixture. Turn them so both sides are damp but don't let them fall apart from soaking too long.
06 - Crack eggs into a dish that's wide and shallow. Add salt, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and milk, then whisk till you get an even mix.
07 - Spread the cream cheese filling on half your bread slices. Top each with another to seal it up like a sandwich.
08 - Take a small bowl and toss in your soft cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Mix everything till really smooth and blended.

# Notes:

01 - Sprinkle in a bit of fresh nutmeg when making the egg wash for a kick of flavor.
02 - Tastes best eaten hot, but you can store leftovers in a covered container for up to a day and warm in your oven to crisp them again.
03 - Switch things up with other fillings—try jam, peanut butter, or Nutella instead of cream cheese if you'd like.
