01 -
Cook ground beef and Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat until evenly browned throughout. Drain excess fat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.
02 -
Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).
03 -
Roll out one pie crust to fit the base and sides of a deep-dish pie pan or deep skillet. Evenly layer half of the mozzarella cheese over the bottom crust.
04 -
Distribute the cooked ground beef, Italian sausage, and half of the pepperoni slices evenly on top of the mozzarella layer.
05 -
Pour pizza sauce or marinara evenly over the meats and pepperoni. Sprinkle Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and optional red pepper flakes over the sauce.
06 -
Top the filling with the remaining mozzarella and the shredded cheddar or provolone. Arrange the remaining pepperoni slices over the cheese.
07 -
Place the second pie crust over the filling to cover. Crimp the edges tightly to seal. Brush the top crust with melted butter and sprinkle lightly with garlic powder.
08 -
Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 20–25 minutes, monitoring closely after 18 minutes. The pie is ready when the crust is deeply golden brown and cheese is visible bubbling at the edges or through any vent holes.
