Ultimate Homemade Smash Burgers (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Burger Ingredients

01 - 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
02 - 4 slices of cheddar cheese
03 - 4 brioche burger buns
04 - Salt and pepper to taste

→ Optional Toppings

05 - Lettuce leaves
06 - Tomato slices
07 - Pickles

→ Baconnaise Sauce

08 - 1 cup mayonnaise
09 - 4 strips of bacon, cooked and crumbled
10 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
11 - 1 teaspoon onion powder
12 - Salt and pepper to taste

# Instructions:

01 - In a skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Once done, place it on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
02 - In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, crumbled bacon, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt and pepper. Mix until well combined and set aside.
03 - Divide the ground beef into four equal portions (about 4 ounces each). Gently roll each portion into a ball – do not overwork the meat.
04 - Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Add a splash of cooking oil if desired.
05 - Place each beef ball onto the hot surface. Using a spatula or burger press, smash down the ball firmly until it flattens out. Season with salt and pepper.
06 - Cook the patties for about 2-3 minutes until browned on one side.
07 - Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the burger is cooked to your desired level of doneness.
08 - Meanwhile, toast the brioche buns in a separate skillet until golden brown.
09 - Spread a generous tablespoon of baconnaise sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Add a patty, followed by lettuce, tomato, and pickles if desired. Top with the other half of the bun.
10 - Serve your delicious Smash Burgers warm, with extra baconnaise sauce on the side for dipping.
