Fried Strawberry Cheesecake Sandwich (Print Version)

Buttery brioche filled with cream cheese, strawberries, and jam, dipped and fried until golden.

# Ingredients:

Filling

01 - 4 oz cream cheese, softened
02 - 2 tablespoons powdered sugar, plus extra for dusting
03 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
04 - 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and thinly sliced
05 - 1/4 cup strawberry jam or preserves

Sandwiches

06 - 8 thick slices brioche bread
07 - 2 large eggs
08 - 3 tablespoons whole milk
09 - Pinch of fine salt
10 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided, plus more as needed

# Instructions:

01 - Beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth and spreadable.
02 - Spread the cream cheese filling evenly over four brioche slices, leaving a half-inch border. Layer sliced strawberries and a thin spread of jam on top, then cover with remaining bread slices.
03 - Whisk eggs, whole milk, and salt together in a shallow dish until fully blended.
04 - Briefly dip each sandwich on both sides in the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, ensuring the brioche is coated but not saturated.
05 - Melt one tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry two sandwiches at a time for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and heated through, adding more butter for the second batch.
06 - Transfer sandwiches to a wire rack to drain for one minute. Dust with powdered sugar, slice diagonally, and serve warm.

# Notes:

01 - Using a wire rack after frying prevents sogginess and maintains crispness.
