Gooey Caramel Cookie Bars (Printer-Friendly Version)

# What You'll Need:

→ Bar Base

01 - 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
02 - 1 tsp baking soda
03 - 1 tsp salt
04 - 1 cup butter, softened
05 - ¾ cup sugar
06 - ¾ cup packed brown sugar
07 - 1 tsp vanilla extract
08 - 2 eggs
09 - 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

→ Caramel Layer

10 - 5 oz evaporated milk
11 - 14 oz caramels
12 - ½ cup peanut butter

# Let's Cook!:

01 - Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9×13 inch pan.
02 - In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
03 - Beat butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Gradually blend in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips.
04 - Spread half of the cookie dough in the prepared pan. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
05 - Melt caramels with evaporated milk in a double boiler until smooth. Stir in peanut butter.
06 - Pour caramel mixture over baked layer. Drop spoonfuls of remaining cookie dough on top. Bake 15-20 minutes until light golden brown.
