Korean Ground Beef Bowls (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Beef Mixture

01 - 1 pound (450 g) lean ground beef (90% lean)
02 - 3 garlic cloves, minced

→ Sauce

03 - 1/4 cup (55 g) packed brown sugar
04 - 1/4 cup (60 ml) reduced-sodium soy sauce
05 - 2 teaspoons (10 ml) sesame oil
06 - 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
07 - 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
08 - 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

→ Serving

09 - 2 cups (480 ml) hot cooked white or brown rice
10 - Sliced green onions, for garnish
11 - Sesame seeds, for garnish

# Instructions:

01 - In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and minced garlic, breaking the meat into crumbles, until no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
02 - In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger, crushed red pepper flakes, and ground black pepper. Pour the mixture over the cooked beef and simmer for 1 to 2 minutes to combine flavors.
03 - Serve the beef mixture over hot rice and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

01 - Use lean ground beef to reduce fat content and drain grease thoroughly to avoid excess oiliness.
