Lazy Man’s Peach Cobbler (Print Version)

Tender peaches baked beneath a buttery crust for an effortless Southern-style sweet treat.

# Ingredients:

Batter

01 - 1 cup self-rising flour
02 - 1 cup granulated sugar
03 - 1 1/4 cups heavy whipping cream or milk

Fruit

04 - 2 jars (20 ounces each) peaches in regular or light syrup, juice reserved

Fat

05 - 1/2 cup salted butter

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 350°F. Melt the salted butter in a 13×9-inch baking dish.
02 - Reserve the juice from the peaches and transfer the fruit to a cutting board. Slice into 1/2-inch slices or bite-sized pieces.
03 - In a medium bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour and granulated sugar until well blended.
04 - Add the heavy whipping cream to the dry mixture and combine until a batter forms. Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter in the baking dish, spreading slightly but without mixing.
05 - Arrange the peach slices evenly over the batter. Drizzle 1/2 cup of the reserved peach juice on top.
06 - Bake for 60 to 70 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Serve warm with optional ice cream or whipped cream.

# Notes:

01 - Using self-rising flour simplifies the leavening process, ensuring the cobbler rises properly without additional leavening agents.
02 - Do not mix the batter and butter after pouring; the resulting layers create the characteristic cobbler texture.
