Philly Cheesesteak Bites (Print Version)

Tender shaved steak, peppers, onions, and provolone baked in golden crescent cups for a cheesy party bite.

# Ingredients:

For the filling

01 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
02 - 1 small yellow onion, finely diced
03 - 1 small green bell pepper, finely diced
04 - 1/2 small red bell pepper, finely diced
05 - 12 oz (340 g) shaved ribeye or shaved sirloin, chopped
06 - 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
07 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
08 - 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste
09 - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the bites

10 - 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough or crescent dough sheets
11 - 6 oz (170 g) provolone cheese, chopped or shredded
12 - 1 tablespoon melted butter
13 - 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, optional
14 - Cooking spray or softened butter for the pan

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a 24-cup mini muffin pan with cooking spray or softened butter.
02 - Warm the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and bell peppers and cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring often, until softened and lightly browned.
03 - Add the chopped shaved steak, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes, breaking up the beef, until browned and any excess moisture has cooked off.
04 - Transfer the steak mixture to a bowl and let it cool for 5 minutes. Stir in half of the provolone.
05 - Unroll the crescent dough and pinch seams closed if using triangles. Cut into 24 squares and press one square into each mini muffin cup.
06 - Spoon the steak filling into the dough cups and top with the remaining provolone. Bake for 13-16 minutes, until the pastry is golden and the cheese is melted.
07 - Brush the warm bites with melted butter and sprinkle with parsley if using. Let stand for 3 minutes before removing from the pan.

# Notes:

01 - Best served warm while the pastry is crisp and the cheese is soft.
02 - Cook the filling ahead, but assemble right before baking.
03 - Use a slotted spoon if the filling seems juicy.
