In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup. Stir occasionally until the mixture comes to a boil. Once boiling, let it cook for 2 minutes without stirring.

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda. The mixture will become frothy.

Pour the caramel mixture over the cereal and pecans. Gently stir until the cereal and pecans are evenly coated.

Spread the coated mixture evenly onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure even coating and prevent burning.
