Pumpkin Spice Donut Pretzel Puppy Chow (Print Version)

A sweet-salty no-bake puppy chow with pumpkin spice, white chocolate, powdered sugar, and crunchy pretzels.

# Ingredients:

For the snack mix

01 - 8 cups (240 g) rice or corn cereal squares
02 - 3 cups (150 g) mini pretzels

For the pumpkin spice coating

03 - 12 oz (340 g) white chocolate chips or white candy melts
04 - 1 tablespoon coconut oil or neutral oil, plus more if needed
05 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
06 - 1/4 teaspoon butter extract, optional
07 - 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice

For the powdered sugar finish

08 - 1 1/2 cups (180 g) powdered sugar
09 - 1/4 cup (25 g) dry milk powder
10 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
11 - 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
12 - 1/4 teaspoon fine salt
13 - 1 cup (170 g) fall candy pieces or cinnamon chips, optional

# Instructions:

01 - In a large zip-top bag or lidded container, combine the powdered sugar, dry milk powder, cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, and salt. Shake or whisk until evenly mixed.
02 - Place the cereal squares and mini pretzels in a very large mixing bowl. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and set it nearby.
03 - Add the white chocolate and oil to a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring after each one, until smooth. Stir in the vanilla, optional butter extract, and 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice.
04 - Pour the warm pumpkin spice coating over the cereal and pretzels. Fold gently with a spatula until the pieces are lightly and evenly coated. If the coating is too thick, stir in 1 teaspoon more oil.
05 - Transfer the coated mix to the bag with the powdered sugar mixture. Seal tightly and shake until the cereal and pretzels are well dusted.
06 - Spread the puppy chow on the prepared baking sheet and let it stand for about 20 minutes, until dry to the touch. Break apart large clusters and toss with optional candy pieces or cinnamon chips.

# Notes:

01 - Makes about 14 cups, enough for roughly 28 half-cup servings.
02 - Best eaten within 3-4 days for the crispiest pretzels.
03 - Use certified gluten-free cereal and pretzels if needed.
