Shrimp Dirty Rice Skillet (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 pound ground hamburger meat
02 - 1 pound ground beef sausage
03 - 10-12 shrimp, peeled, deveined, tails removed

04 - 4 cups cooked long-grain white rice

05 - 2 cups chicken broth (prepared from Better Than Bouillon concentrate)
06 - 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided

07 - 1.5 cups mixed onions and bell peppers, chopped
08 - 3 teaspoons minced garlic

→ Seasonings

09 - 1 teaspoon seafood seasoning
10 - 1 tablespoon dried oregano
11 - 1 teaspoon dried thyme
12 - 1 tablespoon garlic powder
13 - 1 teaspoon onion powder
14 - 1 teaspoon chili powder
15 - 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper, plus additional to taste
16 - 1/2 teaspoon salt, plus additional to taste
17 - Pinch of cayenne pepper

18 - 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

# Instructions:

01 - Toss the shrimp with seafood seasoning to coat evenly.
02 - Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook shrimp 2-3 minutes per side until curled and opaque. Remove from skillet and set aside.
03 - Add remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Add ground hamburger meat and ground beef sausage. Cook, breaking up with a spoon, until partially browned.
04 - Add chopped onions, bell peppers, and minced garlic. Cook, stirring, until vegetables are softened and meat is thoroughly browned.
05 - Stir in oregano, thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper until fragrant.
06 - Sprinkle flour evenly over meat mixture and stir to combine thoroughly.
07 - Gradually pour in chicken broth, stirring constantly. Bring mixture to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes to thicken slightly.
08 - Stir in cooked rice and continue to simmer for an additional 5 minutes, ensuring rice is fully incorporated.
09 - Return cooked shrimp to the skillet and mix well. Heat until all ingredients are thoroughly warmed.
10 - Spoon hot shrimp dirty rice onto plates and serve immediately.

01 - For enhanced flavor, use freshly cooked rice or spread cooked rice on a tray to cool before adding to the skillet to prevent clumping.
