                Dump the blueberries, sugar, and water into your saucepan. Put it over medium-high heat, let it bubble up. Go for about 5 minutes, till you see the berries pop and all the sugar is gone. Smash the berries a bit to let their color and juice out.

                Turn off the stove, toss in the basil, give it a stir, throw on a lid. Let it hang out for 20 minutes so the basil really soaks in.

                Pour your syrupy mix through a mesh strainer into a pitcher or bowl. Press hard to get every last bit of flavor and color. Chuck whatever’s left behind.

                Add your basil-blueberry syrup, lemon juice, and that chilled water right into a big pitcher. Mix it up really well.

                Pour over lots of ice. Toss in extra berries, basil, or lemon slices if you want to dress it up. Enjoy!
