Spray a 9×13-inch glass baking dish with non-stick spray.

Place 2 whole graham cracker sheets in a Ziploc bag and crush them into fine crumbs using a meat mallet or the bottom of a glass. Set aside for garnish.

In a large bowl, mix peanut butter, butter, vanilla, and salt until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, stirring until combined.

In a microwave-safe bowl, heat chocolate chips and shortening in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until melted and smooth. Do not overheat.

Lay 6 whole graham cracker sheets on the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Pour ⅓ of the melted chocolate over the graham crackers, spreading evenly.

Flatten the peanut butter mixture with your hands and layer it on top of the chocolate, covering the surface. Pour another ⅓ of the chocolate over the peanut butter layer.

Add another layer of 6 whole graham crackers. Pour the remaining chocolate over the top and spread evenly.

Sprinkle crushed graham crackers over the top. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour until set.
