01 -
Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease a 23x33 cm (9x13-inch) baking dish and place it aside. Warm a skillet over medium heat.
02 -
Brown ground beef in the skillet until fully cooked. Drain excess fat. Stir in taco seasoning and water, simmer until most liquid is absorbed. Add drained diced tomatoes with green chilies and chopped onion if using. Cook together for 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
03 -
Press biscuit dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, overlapping pieces to create a solid layer forming the crust.
04 -
Spread the beef mixture evenly over the biscuit crust. In a bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, and 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese. Spread this creamy mixture evenly over the beef layer. Sprinkle remaining cheddar cheese on top.
05 -
Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes until cheese is melted, bubbly, lightly browned, and biscuit crust is cooked through. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing to allow layers to set.
