Creamy grits and seasoned shrimp combined in a slow cooker for a flavorful, fuss-free southern-inspired dish.

# Ingredients:

Seafood

01 - 3/4 pound peeled and deveined shrimp

Seasoning

02 - 2 tablespoons Old Bay seasoning
03 - 1 teaspoon salt
04 - 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Grits Base

05 - 1 cup stone-ground grits
06 - 2 cups milk (any variety)
07 - 2 cups water

Dairy

08 - 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
09 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter or ghee

# Instructions:

01 - Generously spray the slow cooker with cooking spray. Add grits, milk, water, salt, pepper, and butter; stir thoroughly to combine.
02 - Cook on HIGH for 2 to 4 hours or LOW for 4 to 6 hours. Stir occasionally to ensure even consistency and prevent sticking.
03 - After cooking, stir in shredded cheddar cheese until fully incorporated and creamy.
04 - In a separate bowl, toss shrimp with Old Bay seasoning to coat evenly.
05 - Add seasoned shrimp to the slow cooker in a single layer atop the grits. Cover and cook for an additional 5 to 10 minutes until shrimp turn opaque and are cooked through.

# Notes:

01 - The slow cooking process allows the grits to become perfectly tender and creamy, while adding shrimp at the end preserves their texture and flavor.
