Spinach Cheddar Chicken Burgers (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ For the Chicken Patties

01 - 1 lb ground chicken (preferably dark meat)
02 - 1/2 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped
03 - 1/4 cup shredded white cheddar cheese
04 - 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional)
05 - 1 egg
06 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
07 - 1/4 tsp onion powder
08 - 1/4 tsp dried oregano
09 - Salt and pepper, to taste
10 - 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)

→ For Assembling

11 - 4 burger buns
12 - Lettuce, tomato, or favorite burger toppings
13 - Extra white cheddar cheese for topping
14 - Mustard or aioli (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded cheese, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined
02 - Divide mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape into 1/2-inch thick patties. Make a small indentation in center of each with your thumb
03 - Heat skillet over medium heat with olive oil. Cook patties for 5-6 minutes per side until golden and internal temperature reaches 165°F
04 - During last 1-2 minutes of cooking, top each patty with extra white cheddar and cover skillet to melt cheese
05 - Toast buns lightly. Place each patty on a bun and add desired toppings and condiments. Serve immediately

# Notes:

01 - If using frozen spinach, drain well to prevent soggy burgers
02 - Patties can be grilled instead of pan-cooked
03 - For a low-carb option, serve without bun on a bed of greens
